Florida’s only endemic bird is now threatened with extinction. Loss, degradation and fragmentation of habitat are all contributing factors – but about which individuals can do little.
Kate Borduas is a transplant from Maine and has been living in Venice since 2003. She is a Florida Master Naturalist and a Certified Interpretive Guide, giving nature walks and talks in several Sarasota and Charlotte County Parks during season. Her natural interests are broad ranging but she has a particular passion for the Florida Scrub Jay. Her presentation will examine how things got so bad so fast and then explore what individuals CAN do to slow the downward spiral.
